Sawa Aso

After obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Cross-Cultural Studies at Seikei University in Tokyo, Sawa Aso studied Jewelry at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle. Currently, she lives and works in Piethen. Aso’s practice is rooted in a deep fascination with everyday objects, specifically functional items that have a direct relationship with the human body. Far from creating mere imitations, Aso transmutes them into steel through a complex handcrafted process. The shift in material and context invites a new perception of the boundary between functionality and ornamentation, turning the ordinary into a source of amusement and curiosity.
