Saika Matsuda

Saika Matsuda studied Jewelry and Hollowware at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich. Currently, she lives and works in Munich. Her artistic practice is a glance cast at the glitches that abruptly surface in life. In her works, familiar objects are stripped of their assumed logic and rendered foreign. Grounded in jewelry as a medium in immediate contact with the body, Matsuda investigates the relationship between human, object, and function. By allowing tools to lose or transcend their intended purpose, she opens a new space for reflection and perceptual experience.
